Club Challenge

This page will be dedicated to keeping you apprised of the Club Challenge races and the points totals after each race day.  For those not familiar with the Club Challenge or racing, one of our racing guru's, Joseph Karnes, has prepared a little Q&A on the next page to help you get started.

2010 Club Racing

Feel like burning a little rubber this year? Of course you do! MUI members are gearing up to hit the 1/4 mile strip and if you've raced before, then you know how exciting it can be. The first race day of the season was Friday evening, April 23rd at Firebird Raceway. This is our year to take the Silver Cup!

Apr 23rd Club Race #1

We had 22 racers total, five of those being brand new. Unfortunately, Jena Shadwick's car broke down just before racing started. We had a winner, Korey Wilson, and a semi, Ted Merritt, both in Bracket #5. Dave Tweedy was Runner Up in Bracket #3. MUI is currently in 3rd place with 356 points.

May 21st Club Race #2

We had no winners this time, however, Tim Shaw did make it to the final round in Bracket #2 and Frank Wilson made it to the semi-finals in Bracket #4. Ted Merritt made it to the quarter-finals in Bracket #5 and is currently in 1st place with 76 points. We gained three new racers: Carl Lucas, Jessica Buchanan and Ricky Lancaster. We had a total of 22 racers but several of our regulars were unable to attend due to prior commitments. Consequently, MUI has fallen to 4th place in the standings, 126 points behind the Melba Outlaws who were jumped by the Naughty Girls. (no pun intended) Hopefully we can get more club racers back out in June.

Jun 11th Club Race #3

Three down, three to go. The race team continues to struggle going rounds. We are still in fourth place, 253 points behind the Melba Outlaws who are 107 points behind the Naughty Girls, who are 161 points behind PSI, who have 1483 points. The bright spot again was Ted Merritt who made it to the semi's in Bracket #5 and is in first place with 119 points.  Jeffrey Langan, Dave Tweedy, and Joshua Hodges all made it to the quarter-finals. The next race is Friday July 2nd and a good turnout is needed if we plan to even make a dent in the difference between us and the Melba Outlaws. Good Luck!

Jul 2nd Club Race #4

Mother Nature was the big winner at Club Race #4 with lots of rain. Bracket's #3 and #5 lasted only one round while Bracket's #1 and #2  made it through two rounds before heavy rains drenched the track. Several MUI members made it through round one and a few through round two. Firebird looked at each bracket and awarded 1st place trophies to those racers with the best package. Wyatt Bennett (MUI) was declared the winner of Bracket #5. We are currently 4th in the standings with 1145 points.

Aug 6th Club Race #5

With only one race left in this season, MUI remains 4th in the standings with 1286 points.
